Sharon Van Etten

One of the most significant indie-rock songwriters of the past decade will break your heart and heal it again.

Sharon Van Etten is the patroness saint of complicated relationships. But even if things are never quite straightforward in her lyrics, her songs and melodies are of such timeless quality that they’ll stick with you.

The songwriter from New Jersey appears simultaneously shy and raw, which is exactly what you can expect of her live shows: Intimacy and intensity in equal measure.

Sharon Van Etten enjoyed a breakthrough with 2012’s ‘Tramp’, produced by her good friend Aaron Dessner of The National. Two years later she released the modern masterpiece ‘Are We There’ to universal acclaim.

Since then, she’s had a child, started studying and starred in the Netflix hit show ‘The OA’. Ever curious, she’s brought all of these experiences and life changes into her latest album ‘Remind Me Tomorrow’ (2019) that offers hits such as Jupiter 4, Seventeen and Comeback Kid.

Apart from Aaron Dessner, Sharon Van Etten has worked with popular artists such as Mackenzie Scott (Torres), Adam Granduciel (War On Drugs), Zach Condon (Beirut), Jana Hunter (Lower Dens) and recently kindred spirit Angel Olsen with whom she has released the wonderful Like I Used To.

Sharon Van Etten is one of the great songwriters of modern indie-rock. The kind that everyone wants a piece of. Go get your slice at SYD FOR SOLEN on Saturday 11 June 2022.
